=) If that changes though, I’ll be sure to make a mention of it as an upcoming thing. In the past, I’d always gotten inquiries and passive aggressive asks about creating parts to upgrade the individual Constructicon team members in this set, but I’ll say the same thing now that I would reply with back then… I don’t give a f*ck (respectfully) about the individual bots on the team, so I’m not doing anything for them. he’s G-f*cking-1 compliant in terms of look, which I personally digĪt this point, my personal process is always to stare at the figure hard and consider my plan of attack, take whatever reference pictures of the current toy that I will need, and then begin my initial layout in Fusion 360: creating my size reference sketches and canvases, then begin shaping the parts I have in my head around the key sections of the toy. Simple engineering, making it easier to work within the current design’s parameters to create parts that can be attached and detached easily from the original toyįinally. Lightweight overall, which helps the joint connections in combined mode do their job extremely well during posingĬombined mode height of 17-inches, which is easy to get into the 20-inch range through the use of a few custom designed additional parts Although he’s widely considered obsolete, CW Devastator has several strengths going for him that I always appreciated in terms of his “construction” =) : I found a used CW Devy online for a reasonable price that missing a few parts (most notably the forearm/hands, the crane arm, and a few panels). This is typical of the motivation behind many projects that I decide to start… the challenge of finding a workaround to cost or availability issues is just as appealing as dealing with issues related to design and engineering!įor this project, I decided to revisit Combiner Wars Devastator, which I had owned previously but sold off eventually after going with JBOSGB as my MP Devy stand-in. ![]() ![]() ![]() In short, I like my Jinbao OS Gravity Builder, but I’m kind of over it nowadays and want a Devastator that I can pick up and mess around with more freely, and that isn’t Toyworld Constructor, which is mostly out of stock and beyond my current price range. While he looks like an absolute beast, he f*cking sucks to handle… it’s the classic combiner mistake so many companies kept making for years until Zeta/Toyworld came along with Constructor: make each bot too heavy with too many weak tab connections throughout to the point where the weight exceeds the hardware and tolerances in combined mode. ![]() As far as Devastator goes, I’ve had the oversized Jinbao KO Gravity Builder on my shelf for a long while now, with various custom designed pieces on him to improve stability and increase his overall height to “Zeta Toys Combiner” scale (roughly 20-inches).
